Daniel Cordier was 20 years old on 17 June 1940, when Marshal Pétain asked the German victor for an armistice. Revolted, this convinced monarchist wanted to continue fighting. But it was a bit by chance that he found himself in London. Incorporated into the Legion of General De Gaulle, then unknown, he did his officer's training and then joined the secret services of the Free French. Parachuted in Lyon to take on the role of secretary to Georges Bidault, a member of the Combat network, he had to hand over the Resistance money to De Gaulle's representative in the free zone: Rex.
