After months of courting, Tom is ready to declare his feelings for Sally Downie with a special gift that once belonged to his wife, Nell. Though at times Tom's position as a copper and Sally's position as a lawyer cause them to clash professionally, they usually manage to separate work from their relationship. When the case of a drunk driver comes up for court Sally takes the assignment, only to find her relationship with Tom also on trial.
