Caplan meets the Unseen, who torture him to force him to admit his responsibility in the death of Mercks. Roxanne and Morlighem decide to kidnap Myriam and use her as a bargaining chip. Impressed by Caplan's courage and his reputation as a dirty cop who fears no one, Colonel Dantin, Head of the Unseen, offers Caplan the position of their dead comrade.
