Als Kommissar Heldt einem Mann zu Hilfe eilt, der vor seinem Kiosk brutal zusammengeschlagen wird, verletzt er sich. Er muss eine Gelenkprothese tragen und ist auf Hilfe angewiesen. Die Prothese blockiert die Arme auf Schulterhöhe und beeinträchtigt Heldt im Alltag schwer. Hauptkommissar Grün sähe ihn lieber krank zu Hause, doch Heldt steht auf dem Standpunkt, dass sein Gehirn noch gut funktioniere. Er beauftragt eine Pflegerin, Ljudmila.
