The show follows a group of contestants who compete for up to $2 million in a quiz competition across 1,000,000 seconds. NBC aired one-hour segments each day, while the rest of the show was viewable from within the Million Second Quiz app and on NBC.com. It is executive produced by Stephen Lambert, Eli Holzman and David Hurwitz. Ryan Seacrest hosted the first season.
